LIFE EVENTS

Getting married in the U.S.

A long process with a lot of paperwork, where the wrong order means doing steps twice. The checklist lays out the whole path so you can check off one item at a time.

My Wedding Plan: getting married in the U.S. checklist (all 130 items)

Wedding planning advice is everywhere. The paperwork of getting married in the U.S. is a separate job.

    For
Couples who have decided to marry in the U.S., even if you only want to get legally married without a ceremony.
    Full version
130 items in three chapters: marriage license and legal steps (18), wedding planning (70), and status and finances after the wedding (42). 128 items point out common pitfalls, the 55 that need documents list what to bring, and costs and deadlines are given where they apply. Name changes and the spousal green card through I-751 are included. No ads in the full version.
    Free to try
The first 30 items are free with no sign-up: the marriage license, the basic outline of the wedding, and the first round after it (SSA name change, driver’s license, tax filing status, W-4).
